Your dream pilot career starts here!
Are you ready to start your journey to becoming a professional pilot? Obtaining a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) is your ticket to an aviation career, as it will allow you to take on paid flying work as a professional pilot.
To commence this course you must first hold a Private Pilot Licence (PPL). You will build on the knowledge of your previous training, and learn more advanced flight techniques and procedures. You will begin with CPL theory, and once you have passed your CASA theory exams you will move on to practical flight training in a Diamond DA40 aircraft. Following practical training, you will need to pass the CPL flight test to receive your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
Working as a pilot is an exciting and rewarding career, and there are a number of different pathways available to pilots with a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
Aside from working towards a career with a commercial airline, there are also opportunities in a range of different industries including tourism, agriculture, cargo, passenger transport and more. You can also look at becoming a Flight Instructor, which is a fantastic way to build hours while you earn, and set yourself up to achieve your professional pilot dreams.
Please note it is a prerequisite to hold a Private Pilot Licence(PPL) or an RPL Navigation Endorsement for this course.
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training will be separated into 2 parts. First of all, students need to finish seven theory subjects via formal classes and all theory exams must be completed within a two-year time frame.
You are required a total of 150 hours with 70 flown solo as a legal minimum. In order to gain the required 70 hours of Pilot-In-Command time, you will be given planned navigation exercises. You will also be given up to 15 hours of your own time where you have the choice to explore the countryside with friends and family.
The CPL flight training will consist of 20 hours of VFR cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command, including a cross-country flight totalling at least 540 km (300 NM) in the course of with full-stop landings at two aerodromes different from the aerodromes of departure.
After ongoing instruction and practice, you will be ready to be put forward for your CPL flight test. In a flight test with a CASA approved Testing Officer, you will demonstrate all that you have learnt through your flight training. If they are satisfied with your knowledge and skills, you will be awarded your Commercial Pilot Licence.
